Nigel de Jong has been called into the Holland squad for the friendly against USA.

The United States fixture is vital preparation for Dick Advocaat's squad as they look forward to the Euro 2004 finals in Portugal.

Michael Reiziger suffered a thigh problem during Barcelona's win over Atletico Madrid on Sunday and Ajax youngster de Jong has been drafted in as his replacement.

It is the first time the 19-year-old has been called into the full Oranje squad and he links up with team-mate John Heitinga, another new face in Advocaat's plans.

Feyenoord winger Robin van Persie, who was on stand-by, has not been promoted to the full squad for the Amsterdam clash.
