Rustu Recber has vowed to continue fighting for his place for the rest of the season despite now finding himself Barcelona's third-choice goalkeeper.

The Turkish international custodian has endured a nightmare spell since joining the Catalan giants last summer from Fenerbahce.

The 30-year-old was hailed as one of the top keepers in world football when he arrived in Spain, and Barca president Joan Laporta heralded him as his first superstar signing.

However, Rustu has never won the confidence of manager Frank Rijkaard who has plumped for the youthful Victor Valdes as his number one.

Indeed, Rijkaard has now installed Albert Jorquera as Valdes' understudy leaving the Turk completely out in the cold, but Rustu insists he will stay at Camp Nou and continue to try and impress.

"I am going to try and put up with this for as long as I can," he stated. "I will stay here until I can take no more.

"In my life as a goalkeeper I have always made two errors a season, and here I've already filled that quota.

"Therefore the only thing that I'm thinking about is to take advantage of the opportunities I might be given."
