Barcelona director of sport Txiki Beguiristain has hailed the capture of midfielder Edgar Davids and believes the Dutch international will be a huge success at Camp Nou.
The 31-year-old will officially complete his six-month loan switch from Juventus on Monday afternoon and will become the sixth Dutchman on Barca's books.
It has been reported that the Catalans will pay Davids a é¼1.2 million fee for signing on, and will also have first refusal to make the deal permanent when he becomes a free agent in the summer.
Beguiristain confirmed that Barca were still waiting for official permission from Juve to rubber-stamp the deal, but identified Davids as exactly the kind of player to help revive the club's flagging fortunes.
"He is a champion, a player with experience and a lot of strength," stated the Barca legend.
"He is a great retriever of balls and a very combative man.
"He will help the balance of the team as it suits us to have offensive players in the middle of the pitch. He will give us a lot of strength.
"He will be able to play as soon as he receives international clearance.
"In theory he could play on Wednesday (against Levante in the Copa del Rey), or if not on Sunday (against Athletic Bilbao), but that depends on the manager."
