NEW Barcelona coach Raddy Antic endured a frustrating first game in charge as he saw his side throw away a two-goal lead to only manage a 2-2 draw with Athletic Bilbao at the Camp Nou on Sunday night.

Everything seemed to be going well for the new coach as Argentine striker Javier Saviola headed the home side in front after just four minutes and Dutch winger Marc Overmars doubled the lead nine minutes later.

Bilbao got themselves back in the contest with Santiago Ezquero pulling one back from the penalty spot two minutes after the restart.

The visitors completed the comeback with Javier Yeste netting from close-range on 54 minutes.

The result leaves Barcelona still in trouble in 15th spot as their woes continue.

Real Sociedad missed the chance to restore their four-point lead at the top of the table after being held to a disappointing goalless draw at home to struggling Espanyol.

The home side dominated for long stages of the proceedings but could not find the crucial breakthrough.

The draw extends Raynald Denoueix's side's lead to two points ahead of Real Madrid.

Fabio Aurelio's late goal earned Valencia a 1-1 draw at basement side Recreativo.

Recreativo looked set for a famous win after Raul Molina fired them in front on 31 minutes, but Aurelio denied them all three points with a 85th minute leveller.

Deportivo La Coruna missed the chance to close the gap on the leading pack after being held to a 1-1 draw with struggling Osasuna at La Riazor.

Inaki Munoz gave the visitors a surprise lead a minute after the break, but Dutch hit-man Roy Makaay earned the home side a point with a 63rd minute equaliser.

Celta Vigo climbed into fifth spot with a superb 2-0 win at Real Mallorca.

Brazilian ace Edu was the hero for the visitors with a quick-fire brace (54,63) giving Celta all three points.

Rayo Vallecano boosted their survival hopes with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Malaga.

Miguel Michel gave the home side the perfect start with the opening goal after just four minutes.

Peragon doubled the lead ten minutes from time and although Dario Silva pulled one back six minutes from time Rayo held on for all three points.

Racing Santander moved out of the bottom three with an impressive 2-0 win over Alaves.

Mehdi Nafti fired the home side in front on 25 minutes and Mario Regueiro wrapped up the win with the second three minutes from time.

Atletico Madrid moved into seventh spot after a 1-1 draw at Sevilla.

Javi Moreno fired the visitors in front three minutes after the break, but Jose Reyes drew the home side level seven minutes later.

Reyes turned from hero to villain 16 minutes later when he was sent off, but Sevilla held on for a point.
