BRAZILIAN defender Lucio has admitted that his international team-mates have played a part in attempting to lure him to either Barcelona or Real Madrid.

The central defender took the world by storm in Bayer Leverkusen's ultimately unsuccessful 2001-02 season, in which they lost the Bundesliga title on the last day of the season and were runners-up in the Champions League and German Cup final.

Lucio has admitted that both Barca and Real have made enquiries into him, helped by the likes of Roberto Carlos and Rivaldo, although he does not want to leave Bayer at the present moment.

"Rivaldo has said to me of the interest from Barcelona in making a move, so has Fabio Rochemback and Giovanni, they are close friends and have spoken to me about the club."

The 24-year-old added that Roberto Carlos had talked about the advantages of joining the Champions League winners.

However, Lucio claimed he was focussed on the job in hand, saying: "At the moment, my head is firmly with the Brazilian team."
