FIFA EXTEND DE BOER BAN

FRANK DE BOER'S year-long doping ban has been confirmed by Fifa on Saturday, who also stated that the Dutch star will be unavailable for his country in that time.

This means the Barcelona defender will not turn out for Holland in their next game against The Republic of Ireland on September 1.

Cor Hellingman, De Boer's lawyer revealed all the details, which means Holland face going into the final qualifying games in a tight race with the Irish and Portugal without one of their most experienced stoppers.

The 31-year-old had already been suspended from all European competitions by Uefa after testing positive for nadrolone after Barcelona's Uefa Cup quarter-final second leg match with Celta Vigo, on March 15.

De Boer is one of a number of Dutch players, including Edgar Davids that have been caught with unusually high levels of the drug in their bodies and an investigation is underway.

Uefa will hear an appeal by De Boer against the ban on July 26, where Frank may use twin brother Ronald to try and prove he has a naturally high amount of nandrolone in their bodies.
