Porto have confirmed that Jackson Martinez will join Atletico Madrid in a £24.8million deal.

The Portuguese club say Atletico have agreed to meet the release clause set for the Colombia international striker, who was top scorer in the Portuguese league during all three of his seasons there.

The 28-year-old looked destined for a switch to AC Milan earlier in the summer before a deal with the Serie A giants fell through and he told journalists last week that he would be joining the La Liga giants in a few days.

The Portuguese giants released a statement on their website validating what Martinez had told reporters last week.

"I am going there for four years, but I still don't know when I will be introduced," Martinez said.

"It's all ready. I'm going to enjoy spending some time with my family for now and then travel to Spain to introduce myself to my new club.

"I'm very excited about taking this step with Atletico Madrid. It's a new challenge in my career and I hope things turn out very well for me there.
