Xavi hopes Luis Enrique will continue as coach of Barcelona next season - even though the veteran playmaker will no longer be there himself.

Enrique has enjoyed an unforgettable first year in charge of Barca, leading the club to a domestic double of La Liga and the Copa del Rey, with the possibility of also adding the Champions League crown to that list.

If Barca do beat Juventus in Saturday's final then they would win the treble for a second time in six years, having also achieved the feat in Pep Guardiola's historic first season, but there are still question marks about Luis Enrique's future beyond this weekend.

The 45-year-old signed a two-year contract when he took over 12 months ago but reports have suggested the former Barca player could walk away this summer.

Xavi is set to leave for Qatari side Al-Sadd in the summer, but he told reporters he hopes the coach doesn't end up following him out the door.

"I don't know what he will do, but hopefully he will continue because we've won with him and his plans," he said.

"He's been a very good leader for the team and I think that we've worked and trained very well.

"Hopefully he stays for the good of Barca. I think he's in the best place that he could be."

Xavi is Barcelona's most decorated player having won 24 titles with the club, as well as helping Spain win the World Cup and two European Championships.

His thirst for silverware has not been diminished, though, and he is hoping to go out on a high this weekend.

He said: "It's my last final with Barca and I want to win it, to be able to lift that title and enjoy it with all the Barcelona fans.

"This has been a spectacular end to my Barca career and I will try to help the team as much as I can if I play the final."
