Radamal Falcao, David De Gea and Raheem Sterling to move while Christian Benteke, Gareth Bale and Yaya Toure stay put

Sky Bet deliver their verdict on the potential summer transfer moves

A host of football's biggest names have been linked with moves this summer, but working out which deals have legs and which ones are full of hot air can be difficult.

We consulted the Sky Bet trading room and their 'Transfer Specials' to gauge which deals are likely to go ahead.

Christian Benteke

One of the big questions of the summer is whether anybody is willing to meet the £32.5million buy-out clause in Benteke’s contract. The Belgium international finished the season in prolific form, scoring 11 goals in as many games after being reignited by the arrival of Tim Sherwood, who admits the club will be powerless to stop their star from leaving if the right money is on the table. The most likely club to front up that amount is Liverpool according to Sky Bet’s odds, with the Reds 13/8 to sign him this summer, while Manchester United follow in the betting at 7/2. However, Villa fans can take comfort from the odds leaning in favour of no deal happening, but only just.

Verdict: Stays at Aston Villa

Radamel Falcao

Chelsea are also considered in the market to sign Benteke but as outsiders at 12/1, with Falcao considered a more likely replacement for Didier Drogba. The Blues head betting of the Colombian’s future at 2/1 followed by Juventus (11/2), Real Madrid and Valencia (both 8/1), while remaining at Monaco is a 9/2 shot, making him the most likely player to move clubs from Sky Bet's list of over 50 potential transfers. A permanent move to Manchester United, for who he scored just four goals during a year-long loan spell, is deemed extremely unlikely, however, at odds of 20/1.

Verdict: Joins Chelsea

David De Gea

Manchester United’s two-time player of the year is thought to be Real Madrid’s number one target for the summer, which does not bode well for Louis van Gaal. Madrid tend to get what they want, as United experienced when they unsuccessfully went toe-to-toe to sign Gareth Bale from Tottenham. Unlike most of their other ‘Transfer Specials’, Sky Bet see this one with just two resolutions; with odds of 6/5 on the Spain goalkeeper staying at United and 8/13 for him to head to the Spanish capital.

Verdict: Joins Real Madrid

Gareth Bale

MADRID, SPAIN - MARCH 15: Gareth Bale of Real Madrid celebrates after scoring Real's opening goal during the La Liga match between Real Madrid CF and Leva
Image: Will Gareth Bale leave Real?

Real Madrid’s baron campaign demanded a scapegoat, with even Cristiano Ronaldo facing criticism from some quarters. The world’s most expensive player, Bale, certainly had his critics from the stands but the boardroom aimed their wrath on Carlo Ancelotti, terminating the Italian’s contract at the end of the campaign. Real Madrid have never been shy in letting their transfer plans known, and the lack of noise coming out of the club regarding Bale indicates that they are not interested in finding a suitor. The odds support that consensus, with a price of 1/5 on Bale remaining in the Spanish capital, while Manchester United are considered leading candidates to lure him away at 7/2.

Verdict: Remains at Real Madrid

Raheem Sterling

With the 20-year-old seemingly reluctant to commit his future to Liverpool, a bidding war is expected to commence this summer. Manchester City are favourites to win any such battle, with Real Madrid (9/4), Arsenal (9/2), Chelsea (8/1) and Bayern Munich (12/1) considered potential rivals for his services. Alternatively, Sterling is 13/8 to remain at Anfield.

Verdict: Joins Manchester City

Angel Di Maria

There is little doubt that Di Maria’s first season at Old Trafford was far from the success that many expected when Manchester United broke the British transfer record, but will he get the chance to prove his worth? The odds suggest so at 8/13 for no move to occur this summer, while PSG are rated the most likely suitors at 6/4, followed by Bayern Munich (5/1).

Verdict: Remains at Manchester United

James Milner

Manchester City look set to lose the 29-year-old, with his contract expiring at the beginning of what looks set to be a summer of transition. Despite not always being in the side, Milner arguably enjoyed his most impressive campaign for City but ultimately failed to help them secure any silverware. Liverpool are the most likely suitors for his services at just 2/7, while Arsenal are considered their main competition at 7/2. An extension of his stay at the Etihad is a 4/1 chance.

Verdict: Joins Liverpool

Yaya Toure

The Ivory Coast midfielder was expected to call time on his stay in Manchester, having been backed at as short as 1/9 to move amid confirmation from agent Dimitri Seluk that he was ’90 per cent’ certain to leave. However, the odds have swung back in favour of Toure remaining at the Etihad Stadium with current odds of 4/6. Linking back up with former City boss Roberto Mancini at Inter Milan is the most likely alternative at 7/4, while PSG are 3/1 to secure his signature.

Verdict: Remains at Manchester City
