The former Manchester United manager has added the experienced McKinlay as his assistant coach, with the 45-year-old confirmed in the role on the club's official website.

Moyes made Sociedad his first club since leaving United when he joined the La Liga side a fortnight ago and he took charge of his first game a 0-0 draw at promoted Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday.

Former Scotland midfielder McKinlay had a brief spell in charge of Watford earlier this season, and has also held a coaching post at Fulham and with the Northern Ireland national team.

Sociedad's website also added that McKinlay completed Moyes' staff, which also consists of coach Asier Santana, strength coach Karla Larburu and goalkeeping coach Roberto.
