Gremio have announced the capture of Pedro Geromel from Real Mallorca on a deal until 2016.

The 28-year-old centre-half heads home on a loan agreement which will take him through to the end of his contract in Spain.

Geromel is due in Porto Alegre next week to complete a medical and complete the necessary paperwork.

He is returning to South America after 10 years in Europe.

Schooled in the Palmeiras academy system, he was snapped up by Portuguese outfit GD Chaves in 2003 and remained there for five years.

A productive spell earned him a switch to German and Cologne, and he would go on to make well over 100 appearances for the club.

He moved to Mallorca in 2012, but struggled to replicate his previous success.
