Barcelona midfielder Xavi is targeting a clean sweep of trophies this season after the disappointment of missing out on several pieces of silverware last year.

Barca lost their Primera Division title to Real Madrid in 2012 and were also beaten in the semi-finals of the Champions League by eventual winners Chelsea.

"The team is very competitive and we want to do well in every competition. We'd like to win the lot but we have to watch our step," Xavi told Fifa.com.

"The talent is there for sure [to have another historic year], but we need luck to be on our side too."

Speaking about the Champions League semi-final, when Barca led 2-0 in the second leg at home and saw Blues' skipper John Terry get sent off, Xavi added: "Well, we've just been talking about how things either go your way or they don't, and in that case they didn't, especially in the games against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and then the Camp Nou, where we had the tie in the bag, with them down to 10 men, only to let it slip.

"The same happened in the league. This year we've been turning those kinds of things our way, making every game count.

"My feeling is we were just a bit below our usual standard last season and we ended up paying for it."

Tito Vilanova's side have been drawn to face AC Milan in the last 16 of the Champions League and Xavi is expecting a difficult contest.

"They're a tough side. They keep it tight at the back and they've always made life very hard for us defensively," he said.

"San Siro is not an easy place to go to either because the fans are very passionate. And if you look back through history you'll see that they've won more European Cups than us.

"They might not be at their best right now but they always have players who can make life hard for you."
