Dutch forward Ibrahim Afellay is determined to prove himself on loan at Schalke as he targets an eventual Barcelona return.
Afellay has put his injury nightmare behind him after suffering cruciate ligament damage in September last year and spending seven months on the sidelines.
The 26-year-old Netherlands international has impressed on loan in the Bundesliga with Schalke so far and still wants to make a name for himself at Camp Nou.
"My aim is to return to Barca," he told OnsOranje.nl.
"Now when I look back at my time at Barcelona I only have good memories. Training was always great fun. Incredible really.
"But I also want to enjoy my football at the moment.
"That is something that I really feel despite what has happened before.
"Since I arrived at Barcelona I have been growing both in a football sense as well as a mental sense.
"I think that I have shown that I can battle through despite the adversity. There is nothing worse for a football player than to injure both ligaments in the knee.
"At the time I cried like a baby because of the pain. My mother has played a big role in my recovery as she was by my side night and day."
