Paraguay striker set for loan Mestalla move ahead of permanent deal

Valencia have reached an agreement with Russian side Rubin Kazan to sign Paraguay striker Nelson Valdez on loan with a view to a permanent deal. The deal is subject to the player, 28, passing a medical, the La Liga club said in a statement on their official website. It marks a quick return to Spanish football for Valdez, who only joined Rubin Kazan from Segunda Division side Hercules last August. "It was a tough job sealing the signing because Nelson is a highly-valued player at Rubin," said Valencia's sporting director Braulio Vazquez. "He is a very important player for us because he is a forward who fits very well with the players we have. "He has strength, commitment, speed and gets forward very well. He will also give us goals. We have a lot of confidence in him."
