Winger taking in trial with Zaragoza

Former Arsenal winger Ryan Smith is in talks with Spanish outfit Real Zaragoza after joining on trial. The 24-year-old previously told skysports.com that he wanted to move closer to his UK-based family after spending the past 16 months in the USA with MLS side Sporting Kansas City. The ex-Derby, Southampton and Crystal Palace man's advisor, Ryan Badu, has now revealed that Smith has always been keen to play in the Primera Liga. "Ryan is out here for talks with Real Zaragoza and he has always been interested in playing in La Liga," he told skysports.com. "He speaks fairly good Spanish and it would only be a two hour flight away from the UK, so it ticks a lot of boxes. "He hasn't ruled out moving back to the UK or elsewhere in Europe just yet, but this was a good opportunity to come over and see what they have to offer. "Zaragoza have signed four good youngsters this summer from Barcelona B and Real Madrid Castilla respectively, so there is a good feeling around the place that they are building something here."
