Real Madrid have confirmed that new signing Hamit Altintop has undergone successful back surgery in Germany.
The Turkey international joined Jose Mourinho's side on a four-year deal last month from Bayern Munich.
His appearances for the Bundesliga club were limited last season as he struggled for fitness, and Real decided there was no option but to send him under the knife.
A statement on the official Madrid website said Altintop will remain in hospital until Saturday morning but there was no mention of how long the 28-year-old might be out of action.
