Espanyol have announced that highly-rated defender Victor Ruiz has joined Serie A side Napoli.
The 22-year-old has represented Spain at Under 17, Under 19 and Under 21 level and is regarded as an excellent prospect for the future.
He has caught the eye with some assured performances in the Primera Liga over the past couple of seasons and a number of clubs were reportedly interested.
But Espanyol have now confirmed on their official website that Napoli have won the chase for his signature.
Ruiz is thought to have signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Naples club after an undisclosed fee in the region of €6million (£5.2m) was agreed.
Napoli are currently second in the Serie A standings, four points adrift of leaders AC Milan, and the arrival of Ruiz will boost their chances of sustaining a title challenge.
As part of the agreement Jesus Datolo will also remain with Espanyol on a permanent basis.
Argentine midfielder Datolo has spent the first half of the season on loan with Espanyol from Napoli.
