Barca boss expects stopper to remain at Catalan club

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola is keen to keep centre-back Gabriel Milito at Camp Nou through this month's transfer window. The Argentine defender, who arrived at Barca from Real Zaragoza in 2007, has requested a loan move for the remainder of the season in order to gain more playing time. Several clubs, including Genoa, Napoli and Malaga, are thought to be interested in securing the 30-year-old's signature. However, Guardiola has revealed he wants Milito to stay with the Primera Liga champions for the time being. The coach told Goal.com Spain: "For now, I say no (Milito will not leave). "I have a squad in which there is Gabi, who is an important player even when he is not playing. "I will never forget how he has behaved throughout this time and if he decides to leave because he wants to play more, then I will help as much as I can and I'll wish him the best."
