Hamit Altintop hits out over lack of first-team chances

Bayern Munich midfielder Hamit Altintop has voiced his frustration at a lack of first-team football this season. The 27-year-old has featured in just three of his team's eight matches so far this term, and was mainly used a replacement for Franck Ribery when he was injured last season. And with his chances of gaining a run in the first team looking increasingly limited, Altintop admits he is unhappy.

Team

"Last weekend, I was in the starting line-up of the team for the first time in more than five months," he told Bild. "It is quite easy for people to say that I should grab my opportunity when I get in, but it's not that easy. "There are times when I am going home frustrated at what is happening. Bayern are my employers and I will respect the manager's decisions. "But I am unhappy at the moment."
Schalke
Altintop joined Bayern Munich from FC Schalke in June 2007 and has played just 49 games in that time. There had been some speculation surrounding his future in the summer but in the end he opted for just a one-year contract extension. "Over the summer it had crossed my mind that I could end up playing just as little games as I did last year, that's why I signed for just one year in the end."
