Real Mallorca have been dealt a severe blow with the news defender Jose Carlos Nunes will be sidelined for at least three weeks.
The 33-year-old centre-back sustained an ankle injury during Mallorca's 2-0 home win over Real Sociedad on Sunday.
Medical examinations have shown damage to the Portuguese stopper's left ankle, but also revealed the bone was unharmed.
Nunes' absence leaves coach Michael Laudrup without a key option in central defence for his side's visit to Barcelona on Sunday.
Laudrup said: "This is bad news for the team."
