Barca defender back after 17 months out with knee injury

Gabriel Milito has returned to training at Barcelona after more than 17 months out with a knee injury. The defender missed the whole of last season with the problem while his last game came in the UEFA Champions League semi-final defeat to Manchester United in April 2008. Despite the 29-year-old participating in ball work during training the Barca medical staff are refusing to pencil in a specific date for a comeback. The former Real Zaragoza favourite has suffered some complications since surgery but manager Pep Guardiola is hoping to get Milito back in first team action before Christmas. The Argentina international will face stiff competition to win his place back with Barca signing central defenders Gerard Pique and more recently Dmytro Chigrinsky while he has been out injured.
