Betis forward expects to leave Spain this summer

David Odonkor has given a come-and-get-me plea to Cologne after revealing he will be leaving Real Betis this summer. The German international is said to favour a return to his homeland after three ultimately uneventful seasons at Betis. The forward has been in and out of the Verdiblancos team during his stay in Spain and wants an end to his Primera Liga adventure following Betis' relegation from the top flight. The 25-year-old, who recently said he was interested in a move to Hannover, stated that he would love to link up with Cologne striker Lukas Podolski. "I am going to leave Betis and I would like to return to the Bundesliga," he told Express.

Great club to join

"I think FC Cologne would be a great club to join, their general manager Michael Meier knows me well from my Dortmund years. "I would also like to play alongside Lukas Podolski, that would be fine. And it had been at Cologne where I scored first for Germany. "Joining Cologne would be a great thing." Meanwhile, Cologne defender Pedro Geromel has signed a new five-year contract after reported interest from AS Roma.
