Valencia midfielder Edu has suffered another injury blow, this time to his knee, ruling him out for up to a month.
The Brazil international has been blighted by injuries since he joined the club from Arsenal on a free transfer in May 2005.
This season many believed the 30-year-old had turned a corner having featured 27 times in all competitions for Los Che.
But the former Corinthians star broke down in training with what doctors have confirmed as a ruptured muscle.
The latest injury is one of five setbacks Edu has had to endure during his time at the Mestalla but he remains optimistic.
"I have noticed a lot of pain but I will begin recuperation and try to support the team," he said.
"I am not lucky with the injuries but I am always optimistic and I am prepared to do whatever it takes."
