Real Madrid's injury problems have increased with the news that Mahamadou Diarra is set to undergo surgery
Midfielder could miss rest of the season
Real Madrid's injury problems have increased with the news that Mahamadou Diarra is set to undergo surgery.
The Mali international is struggling with a knee problem he sustained on international duty in October.
Scans have confirmed Diarra has suffered a recurrence of the knee injury and that he could be forced to go under the knife.
It is feared the midfield powerhouse could be sidelined for up to six months with the problem ruling him out for the rest of the campaign.
Real president Ramon Calderon has admitted Diarra is facing up to the prospect of having surgery to correct the problem.
"We are in a bad stage that is not logical and now it seems that Diarra will have to be operated on," Calderon told Marca.
