Barcelona midfielder Xavi is confident his contract talks will soon be resolved in a 'positive' way.
Xavi has been in negotiations over a new deal for some time but his agent admitted earlier this week that the situation had not been sorted out.
The Spain international wants to be offered terms that show his worth to the team and believes he is right not to back down.
Barcelona are understood to be desperate to keep Xavi and the 28-year-old thinks a contract will be agreed in the near future.
"I am a professional and it is normal that I defend my interests," Xavi told radio station ONA FM.
"I demand fair conditions from the club and I expect a positive solution soon."
Xavi's current deal does not expire until 2010 but it is understood that he wants to commit to the club until 2014.
"I would be very happy to finish my career at Barca," he added.
