Italy coach Marcello Lippi has handed former Manchester United starlet Giuseppe Rossi for his senior call-up.

Rossi has been in good form for Villarreal this term and he has been rewarded with a place in their squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and Montenegro.

Rossi is one of four new faces alongside Udinese forward Simone Pepe, and Napoli duo Christian Maggio and Fabiano Santacroce.

Fiorentina midfielder Riccardo Montolivo is also promoted back into the squad from the Under-21s, while Daniele Bonera and Antonio Nocerino also win recalls.

But Alessandro Del Piero, Antonio Cassano and Fabio Quagliarella have all been omitted.
