Barcelona midfielder Xavi has hailed team-mate Samuel Eto'o as the greatest striker on the planet.
Eto'o endured a frustrating season at Camp Nou last term and was told by incoming boss Pep Guardiola at the start of the summer that he would be allowed to leave.
A number of clubs were interested in signing the Cameroon international but he ended up staying with Barcelona.
Eto'o has been in impressive form in pre-season and Xavi believes he will be difficult to contend with over the coming months.
"Today I do not have doubts. For me Samuel Eto'o is the best striker in the world," Xavi told radio station Cadena Ser.
"Eto'o is very calm and very united to the team this season.
"I believe this is the best thing that could have happened for Barca for this campaign."
Xavi, named the Player of the Tournament at Euro 2008, has also paid tribute to the work of Guardiola.
"He is a person who will plan all the details," Xavi explained.
"He wants to play positively and for me he is an extraordinary person with a great psychological outlook."
