Brazilian midfielder Eduardo Costa has joined Serie A side Lecce from Espanyol. The 25-year-old spent last season back in his homeland on loan at Gremio and has been informed that he does not feature in new Espanyol boss Tintin Marquez's plans. The Catalan club have already allowed defender Pablo Zabaleta to join Premier League outfit Manchester City, while winger Albert Riera could also be heading to England if his proposed move to Liverpool goes through. Marquez has moved to replace the outgoing players, with Brazilian midfielder Nene arriving from Monaco and Argentine defender Nicolas Martin Pareja joining from Anderlecht. But with Costa having now headed for the exit it remains to be seen whether the Barcelona-based club delve back into the market before the transfer window closes on Monday. However, they have begun the new Primera Liga in positive fashion, claiming a 1-0 win over Valladolid in their opening game on Saturday.
