Atletico Madrid have announced the signing of Paulo Assuncao from Porto for an undisclosed fee.
The Brazilian midfielder joined Porto from AEK Athens in 2005 but he has been looking to leave since falling out with the club's management.
Atletico have now confirmed on their official website that Assuncao will link up with the rest of the squad on Monday, although no details of his contract were disclosed.
The 28-year-old becomes Atletico's fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Johnny Heitinga, Tomas Ujfalusi, Florent Sinama-Pongolle and Gregory Coupet.
Portugal international Maniche, however, could be on his way out of Atletico after ending last season on loan at Internazionale.
Atletico have now confirmed they are in talks with several clubs interested in signing Maniche.
Atletico will compete in the UEFA Champions League this season after finishing fourth in the Primera Liga.
