Zidane - Ron holds the key

Zinedine Zidane believes that if Cristiano Ronaldo wants to play for Real Madrid that a move is inevitable.

Ex-Madrid ace says Ronaldo's Bernabeu switch in his hands

Former Real Madrid ace Zinedine Zidane believes that if Cristiano Ronaldo wants to play at Santiago Bernabeu that a move is inevitable. The Portugal international's future is very much in the air with the Liga giants desperate to prise him away from Manchester United this summer. The Reds Devils have issued a 'not for sale' sign about Ronaldo, but that has not dampened the speculation that he could still move on. The former Sporting Lisbon ace has spoken of a desire to play for Real one day, and Zidane feels that if he does wish to play for the club then there is little United can do about it.

Wishes

"It depends on his personal wishes. If Ronaldo wants to play for Madrid, he will," he told Marca. Real paid a whopping £47million to sign Zidane from Juventus in 2001 and the France legend does not think money will be an obstacle for the Spanish champions if United's resolve weakens. "Real Madrid has shown that when it wants a player, it gets him," he added. "That club is not afraid of paying a lot of money for a player. "Madrid is prepared to pay even more for Cristiano than for me. If he comes to Spain it will be for a great sum, without doubt."
