Striker joins on four-year deal

Villarreal have reached an agreement to sign Joseba Llorente on a four-year deal from Real Valladolid. The 28-year-old striker helped Valladolid win promotion to the top flight with 17 goals in 2006/7. He kept up his good form this season and scored another 17 goals as Valladolid avoided relegation. Llorente's impressive performances did not go unnoticed and Villarreal have now swooped to make him their second new signing of the summer. Edmilson recently arrived from Barcelona to strengthen Villarreal's squad ahead of next season, when they will once again be playing in the UEFA Champions League. Uruguayan midfielder Sebastian Eguren has also signed a permanent deal after spending last season on loan from Swedish club Hammarby.
