Milan to face fight from city rivals

Internazionale are confident that they can still beat city rivals Milan to the signing of Ronaldinho. Milan have long been favourites to land the Brazilian ahead of a host of clubs including Chelsea - whose owner Roman Abramovich has always coveted the Samba superstar. Inter have also never been shy in admitting their fondness for Ronaldinho - although they looked to have missed out when the player's brother and agent Roberto de Assis confirmed that they had reached an agreement with Milan. But Inter president Massimo Moratti has declared that they are very much in the battle to land him.

Confident

"If Ronaldinho goes to Milan, it will also depend on the willingness of Inter," Moratti told Sky Italia. "We will evaluate our options next week. "We have an exceptional relationship with Barcelona and Ronaldinho's management team so we will have to see. "We will also have to see if we decide to pursue this to the end, but if the market is open to Milan it is open to us too." Roberto Mancini has long been a fan of Ronaldinho and he reiterated his admiration for the Brazilian after their win over Fiorentina on Sunday. "He is a great player and a champion and I think such players are interesting to all clubs," he said. "He is still relatively young and can still do a lot of good."
