Sampdoria are hoping to conclude a deal with Real Madrid to hang on to Antonio Cassano.

Talks planned with Real

Sampdoria are hoping to conclude a deal with Real Madrid to hang on to on-loan forward Antonio Cassano. The Italy international is spending the season with Sampdoria and has scored seven goals in 16 Serie A appearances. Cassano is willing to stay with Samp after struggling to make an impact since joining Real two years ago from Roma. Real have yet to make a decision on whether to allow Cassano to stay in Italy, although Samp sporting director Giuseppe Marotta hopes for a positive outcome. "We must be cautious," Marotta told the Italian press. "We want to continue with Cassano and Cassano wants to continue with us. There are also no problems with his agent. "The only obstacle to overcome is Real Madrid. Anyway, we have time until 10th June."
