Croatia ace keen to show Liga what he is made of

Real Betis' out-of-favour midfielder Marko Babic has revealed he rejected the chance to join Bolton in January as he wanted to prove himself in Spain. The relegation-threatened Trotters made a late move for the 27-year-old prior to the transfer window closing, although he turned down the chance to play in England. Babic, who made his name through a successful seven-year spell with Bayer Leverkusen, has featured in just eight games for Betis and is now in danger of missing out on Euro 2008. Despite running the risk of failing to make Croatia's squad for this summer's European Championship, Babic was determined not to leave Betis having yet to make his mark on the club. "I did not want to leave because I want to succeed in Spain with Betis," he told Vecernji List. "Despite not being offered the chance to play enough minutes and risking missing out on Euro 2008, I don't want to waste this opportunity. "I refused to listen to Bolton's offer despite it being an honour that a Premier League team are interested in you, as their competition is very interesting. "I am very happy in Seville and I'm working every day to obtain the manager's trust."
