Juan Roman Riquelme has completed his transfer back to Argentine club Boca Juniors from Villarreal.
Riquelme fell out of favour with Villarreal coach Manuel Pellegrini last season and has continued to be frozen out this term.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Boca, helping them to win the Copa Libertadores for a sixth time, and has now returned to the club where he also started his senior career.
A deal was agreed last weekend and the 29-year-old has now put pen-to-paper on the contract.
"He's already signed, he's a Boca player," confirmed vice president Pedro Pompilio.
Riquelme revealed this week that he had rejected the chance to join Tottenham, while a number of other European sides were also believed to be interested in his services.
