Villarreal have confirmed they have agreed a deal with Boca Juniors for Juan Roman Riquelme to move back to Argentina.
The classy playmaker spent the second half of last season on loan at Boca and impressed during his stint with the Argentine giants.
Boca have been working on securing a permanent deal for Riquelme for some time, with the player not figuring at El Madrigal.
Riquelme has been frozen out of things at Villarreal ever since a bust-up with coach Manuel Pellegrini last season.
A number of other European clubs have been linked with Riquelme, but Boca have won the race for the midfielder's signature.
Villarreal directors Jose Manuel Llaneza and Miguel Perez are set to fly to Buenos Aires on Wednesday to try and thrash out the deal.
