Former Liverpool goalkeeper happy in Spain

Jerzy Dudek is happy to have swapped the bench at Liverpool for the bench at Real Madrid as he waits for his chance to prove himself at The Bernabeu. The Polish goalkeeper left Anfield in the summer after failing to dislodge Jose Reina and is now doing battle with Spain's first-choice goalkeeper Iker Casillas. Despite not playing a single minute of competitive action yet this term, Dudek is prepared to remain patient as he knew what to expect when he joined Real.

Opportunity

"Of course I would like to play, but we've only played six or seven league matches and there's a lot of the season left," he told the Spanish media. "We all have to be in top form and I'll wait for my opportunity. "It's up to [Bernd Schuster]. I have never made an agreement with the coach. I knew I would be the second keeper when I came and I am aware of how difficult it is to be the starter. "I may be able to play in the Copa del Rey and hopefully if we win our next two Champions League matches they will decide to rest players and give me a chance."
Rotation
While the rest of the Real Madrid squad continues to be rotated each week, the goalkeeping position has been retained by Casillas all this season. "Iker is playing very well and I don't think there needs to be a change. I still work hard to help my team and I am available for whenever Schuster needs me," Dudek added.
