Sevilla have rejected reports that Arouna Kone has problems with his heart, after the striker underwent a thorough medical at the club.

After joining the Uefa Cup holders from PSV Eindhoven, stories emanating from Holland suggesting that there were fears that the 23-year-old had slight heart problems.

A delay in introducing Kone as a new player led to speculation that club medics had discovered a problem, but Sevilla club doctor Munoz has strongly denied the claims.

"The medical tests that have been done on the players are all normal, in principle," Munoz said.

No problem

"We have already carried all necessary cardiological exams on him and, from our point of view, there was no sort of problem at all.

"Kone will start training next Wednesday, but only after having just a few more tests. But I can assure everyone that there is no problem."

The reason for the delay in giving the Ivory Coast international a clean bill of health was simply due to one test having to be repeated.

"A traumotology exam had to be repeated because of a small problem in translating the results," Munoz continued. "We were told by the doctors about this situation."
