Viana agrees Osasuna loan

Former Newcastle midfielder Hugo Viana will spend next season on loan at Osasuna.

Former Newcastle midfielder Hugo Viana will spend next season on loan at Osasuna after the Spanish outfit reached agreement with Primera rivals Valencia.

Viana joined Valencia two summers ago after failing to impress at St James' Park following a big-money move from Sporting Lisbon.

However, during his time at the Mestalla he has, once again, only ever been a marginal figure and made just seven league starts for the Che last term.

The 24-year-old will now be hoping to kick-start his career at Osasuna who have reserved an option to make the loan move permanent at the end of the forthcoming season should the Portugal international impress.

Viana becomes Osasuna's fourth capture of the summer with Chilean Under 20 forward Nicolas Medina, Swiss international midfielder Xavier Margairaz and striker Javier Portillo already in the bag.
