David Trezeguet has completed his move from Juventus to newly promoted Primera Division side Hercules.

Striker ends speculation by putting pen to paper with Spanish outfit

David Trezeguet has completed his move to newly promoted Primera Division side Hercules Alicante after having his contract terminated by Juventus. The Frenchman was made surplus to requirements at the Italian giants this summer and a move to Spain beckoned, with Real Zaragoza and Hercules locking horns for his signature. Hercules have now won the battle and Trezeguet joins on a free transfer, with the 32-year-old's wife, who was born in Alicante, reportedly playing an influential role in the surprise decision. The club achieved promotion last term after finishing second in the Spanish second division and the signing will be seen as a major coup for the relegation candidates. Trezeguet is the highest scoring foreigner in The Old Lady's history and was always a popular figure among fans as club president Andrea Agnelli reflected on a glorious decade together.

Love story

"Like all Juve fans I was very fond of David and his 171 goals in 10 years," said Agnelli. "A player with an average of 17 goals a season needs no commentary. It was a true love story and David will always be in our hearts." Former Monaco striker Trezeguet spent 10 years with Juventus, scoring 171 goals since joining in 2000 after making a big impression with France, who won the European Championships that year. He won three league titles with Juve, including Serie B in 2007, played in the 2003 UEFA Champions League final and was Serie A top scorer in 2002.
