Marseille ensured that the title race goes down to the wire with a 2-1 win over Nancy at Stade Marcel Picot.

Goals from Laurent Bonnart and Brandao put the away side into a two goal lead before a late strike from Landry N'Guemo threatened to deny Marseille all three points.

The win, combined with Bordeaux's win over AS Monaco, mean Marseille can now only win the title by goal difference on the last day with another win and they must hope Bordeaux lose to Caen.

A single goal decided the game at Stade Jacques Chaban-Delmas where Marouane Chamakh's first half strike sent Bordeaux a step closer to the league title.

The 1-0 defeat drops Monaco into the bottom half in 12th position and sums up a disappointing season.

Nantes will almost certainly be relegated to the second tier after their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sochaux.

They will need a miracle on the last day to overhaul Caen's superior goal difference, while Sochaux's safety is in their own hands.

Elsewhere, Auxurre secured their place in 8th position by taking all three points against struggling St. Etienne at Stade Abbe-Deschamps.

The defeat puts St. Etienne into the relegation zone going into the last round of fixtures as they host Valenciennes on the final day next Saturday.

Meanwhile Rennes kept their Europa League chances open with a 3-1 home win over Lorient.

Moussa Sow and Rod Fanni gave the home side two goal cushion at the break before Marama Vahirua's goal threatened a late comeback from Lorient, but Jires Ekoko restored the two goal lead just three minutes later.

Lorient remain in 10th position despite the defeat.

Valenciennes moved up to 11th in the table with a 2-1 win over PSG at Stade Nungesser.

Two quick-fire second half strikes from Johan Audel and Grégory Pujol cancelled out Mateja Kezman's early opener.

The defeat drops PSG down to 5th place and puts Toulouse in control in the battle for European football next season.

Honours were even at Leon-Bollee as Le Mans drew 1-1 with Grenoble.

The draw does neither side any favours as they both slip down the rankings to 13th and 16th respectively.

Bottom of the table Le Harve suffered further misery as they went down 1-0 at home to Lille.

Despite the win, Lille drop down one place on goal difference thanks to Renne's 3-1 win over Lorient.

Lyon continued their end of season form with a 3-1 win over Caen.

Goals from Juninho, Sidney Govou and Karim Benzema ensured victory, while Sambou Yatabaré grabbed a late consolation for Caen.

The defeat leaves Caen hovering above the relegation zone in 17th position while Lyon are already secure in 3rd place.

Toulouse moved up into 4th position following their 2-0 win over Nice at Municipal du Ray.

A first half brace from André-Pierre Gignac secured the win and Toulouse now look set to grab the Europa league spot on the final if they can win on the final day next week.
