Fabien Barthez has revealed he is keen to play on for another couple of seasons, despite walking out on Nantes at the weekend.
The World Cup and European Championship winner turned his back on Nantes after an altercation with a group of Canaris fans following Nantes' defeat to Rennes at the weekend.
Speculation had suggested Barthez would head into retirement, but he is looking to continue his career.
"I don't think that my career is over," Barthez told France Info. "I wish to play two or three more seasons.
"I want to pay football back for what it gave me.
"But playing for the sake of it doesn't interest me, it would be useless. I want to be part of a real and ambitious project."
Barthez has not ruled out playing in France, as he added: "It could be in Ligue 1, in spite of what happened at Nantes."
