Landreau escapes punishment

Nantes goalkeeper Mickael Landreau has escaped any censure for his outburst.

Nantes goalkeeper Mickael Landreau has escaped any censure for his outburst against the club.

Landreau launched a stinging attack on chairman Jean-Luc Gripond earlier this month claiming he was trying to ruin the club.

Nantes tried to ban Landreau from taking part in training for a week following the criticism, but all the players threatened to stop training if Landreau was punished.

The club backed down over their threat, but coach Loic Amisse ultimately paid for his failure to keep the players on track by being sacked.

Landreau held clear-the-air talks with Nantes officials on Monday and they have decided not to ban or fine him.

New Nantes coach Serge Le Dizet is believed to have called for Landreau to escape any punishment and for the matter to be closed.
