Nantes are seeking Fifa's agreement in their bid to re-sign Romanian striker Viorel Moldovan.
The 31-year-old quit Les Canaris when his contract expired at the end of last season and signed for Al-Wahda in June.
However, Moldovan cancelled his contract in the Middle East for family reasons and returned to France to train with Nantes last week.
Nantes coach Loic Amisse has been impressed with Moldovan's displays in training and has decided to hand the hit-man a contract.
Moldovan endured a strained relationship with previous boss Angel Marcos but appears to have been swayed into a Nantes comeback by Amisse.
Now, Nantes must secure Fifa's permission to sign Moldovan as normal rules prevent a player moving twice during a specific transfer period.
