Landreau wins fair play gong

NANTES goalkeeper Mickael Landreau has won the September fair play award in France.

The Canaries' skipper booted the ball into touch to allow Lyon's Pegguy Luyindula to receive treatment for an injury, and this gesture caught the eye of the awards panel.

During the same game, the shot-stopper also acted as peacemaker to calm members of his team down during an ugly clash with Lyon players at the end of the game.

The French League have now awarded him the Serge-Mesones Trophy for fair play for his efforts.

The award will be of some joy to Landreau as he goes through a particularly rough period with his club struggling in the league.

Coach Angel Marcos is also under pressure and it has even been said that he only has a few games left to turn things around at La Beaujoire.
