Leicester City chairman Milan Mandaric has confirmed he is hoping to snatch Polish striker Marek Saganowski from under the noses of Southampton.

The Saints have been hoping to tie up a permanent deal for Saganowski after his hugely successful loan move from Troyes in January.

However, no agreement has been forthcoming as yet and The Foxes are hoping to take advantage of any opportunity to beat George Burley to the player's signature.

"I'm lying in wait there," Mandaric told the Leicester Mercury.

"Saganowski is a player I like. Watch this space, that is all I can say."

Troyes are open to selling the Polish striker and Saganowski's agent has warned Southampton that he will consider alternative offers if a deal is not concluded soon.

"There are a number of clubs interested in Marek," said Jaroslaw Kolakowski.

"He wants to go to a good club. Southampton have been his first choice as he enjoyed his time there.

"But, if talks take too long with Southampton, he could move on."
