Boro midfielder set for loan switch

Nice are hoping to conclude a deal for Middlesbrough's Didier Digard. The Cote D'Azur outfit are struggling in 16th in Ligue One and want to bolster their squad this month. Coach Didier Olle-Nicolle has targeted a central defender and a midfielder. Digard has now emerged as his top midfield target, whilst San Lorenzo's Renato Civelli is the stopper he wants. "We must recruit two players, a central defender and a midfielder and we are working on that now," the club's director general Patrick Governatori told Nice-Matin. "Two of those are Didier Digard and Renato Civelli, there are others too, but we hope to do these shortly. "This could be done this week. Digard is expensive, but it could be done and we are discussing it. "No matter what happens, I think they would be two loans with an option to purchase." Digard only joined Boro at the start of last season, signed by former Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate as a replacement for Lee Cattermole. However, Digard has failed to make the expected impact on Teesside and new boss Gordon Strachan has seemingly deemed him surplus to his requirements.
