Jeremy Menez has set his sights on helping AC Milan to get back to the top of Italian football as he closes in on a move to the club.

The French winger’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired at the end of last season and he has flown in to Italy to undergo a medical with Milan.

He will join on a free transfer and is relishing the prospect of working under Filippo Inzaghi, who has just taken charge following the dismissal of Clarence Seedorf.

"I'm really happy to be here,” he told the Milan Channel.

“I chose Milan because they are always Milan even if they have had some difficulties last season.

“Let's hope to come back to being great and win something important.

“Mr Inzaghi is in charge for next season and he has a big will to win with Milan. He already won a lot as player and he wants to win also as a coach.”

Milan finished a disappointing eighth in Serie A last season, ending up 45 points behind champions Juventus.

Menez added: “My priority is Milan. We must get back in the top three of the Italian league and also to try to win the Serie A title.

“To supporters I assure you I'll give everything on the pitch.”
