Paris Saint-Germain striker Nene is eager to return to Brazil in January and preliminary discussions between Flamengo and his agent have already taken place.
The 31-year-old, who has fallen down the pecking order this season, will become a free agent at the end of the season when his current contract with PSG runs out.
Talks over a new deal with the French club have broken down and his agent claims that Flamengo are keen to recruit him this month.
"Flamengo contacted me," Gilvan Costa told Globo Esporte. "[Club director] Wallim made an offer but it was far from what the player wants.
"The club's board members promised to talk with each other and then they will contact me again.
"Nene really wants to return to Brazil as he dreams of playing in the World Cup and he believes that he will be closer to that goal if he plays in Brazil."
