French giants keen to add talented teenager to their ranks

Paris St Germain have held initial talks with Pescara regarding the possible purchase of highly-rated midfielder Marco Verratti. The 19-year-old is wanted by some of Europe's top clubs, with PSG looking to pip the likes of Juventus and Napoli to his signature. It is understood that an agreement to take the Italy U21 international to France is close. Reports suggest that a five-year contract is set to be signed, while a big-money transfer fee will change hands. PSG are reluctant to comment until a deal has been done, but are prepared to admit that Verratti is a player they are keen to add to their ranks. On the transfer discussions, sporting director Leonardo told L'Equipe: "We have had a first meeting to study the case." Verratti is a product of Pescara's academy system and helped the club to the Serie B title last season.
